Due to a European Union directive that came into effect on July 1, 2003, Amazon is required to charge VAT on Seller fees charged on or after July 1, 2003 if the Seller does not provide Amazon with a valid VAT number.

From January 1, 2015, “electronically supplied services” are charged VAT based on the member state where an Amazon seller is established, when the seller has not provided Amazon with a valid VAT number.

Amazon will charge Marketplace sellers who are not VAT registered the standard rate of VAT applicable to each EU Member state (For example, 19% in Germany, 20% in the United Kingdom and France, 21% in Spain and Latvia, 22% in Italy and 25% in Denmark).

NoteAll fees below are VAT exclusive.

VAT registered Marketplace sellers may be eligible to be charged the VAT-exclusive seller fees listed below. See Qualifying for VAT-exclusive Fees for more information on how to qualify for this exclusion.

Please note: VAT-exclusive seller fees do not apply to Switzerland and Liechtenstein VAT-registered sellers. This is according to local VAT legislation in Switzerland and Liechtenstein which subjects electronically supplied services to 8% VAT.

When your item sells, we collect the amount paid by the buyer (including the item price and any shipping, gift wrap, or other charges).

We deduct the greater of the applicable referral fee percentage or applicable per-item minimum referral fee calculated on the item price and any gift wrap charges, plus a variable closing fee. Sellers who do not pay a monthly subscription fee also pay a per item fee for each item sold.

Selling on Amazon Subscription Fee:

  • Pro-Merchant: £25.00 per month.
  • Individual: No subscription fee.

Per-Item Fees

  • Pro-Merchant: No per-item fee.
  • Individual: a per-item fee of £0.75 for each product sold through the UK Amazon Site.

Referral Fees

Sellers pay a referral fee on each item sold. Items in some categories have a per-item minimum referral fee as listed below (i.e., sellers pay the greater of the referral fee percentage or the per-item minimum referral fee).

The tables below describe the referral fees and variable closing fees by category.

Amazon deducts the greater of the applicable referral fee percentage or applicable per-item minimum referral fee. See "Referral Fees" notes above.

* Prior to October 9, 2014, the £0.50 per item minimum referral fee for Consumer Electronics / Computer Accessories products only applied to sellers on the Professional selling plan. With effect from October 9, 2014, the £0.50 per item minimum referral fee for Consumer Electronics / Computer Accessories products was lowered to £0.40, and it also applies to sellers on the Individual selling plan.

Per-item minimum referral fees only affect items with low total sales prices. For example, in a category that has a 15% referral fee, a £0.40 per-item minimum referral fee only applies to items with a total sales price below £2.67. Those items now have a referral fee of £0.40, while items with a total sales price equal to or greater than £2.67 will continue to have a referral fee of 15% of the total sales price.

High-Volume Listing Fee

UK: £0.0003 per active non-media SKU

With effect from February 1, 2015, we will start to calculate the monthly High-Volume Listing Fee based on the number of active non-media SKUs you offer for sale on Amazon. The High-Volume Listing Fee will only apply if you exceed 2 million SKUs in a given month, and it will be applied to your highest number of SKUs above 2 million at any time during that month. For each active non-media SKU over 2 million, a fee of £0.0003 per SKU will apply.

For example, if during the month a total of 3 million active non-media SKUs were made available by you, the fee applied for that month will be £300 (3,000,000 - 2,000,000 SKUs = 1,000,000 SKUs x £0.0003).

Please note: If you sell in multiple marketplaces, the 2 million non-media SKU limit will apply to each marketplace. For example, if you sell in UK and France, you will have a 2 million non-media SKU limit on Amazon.co.uk and a further 2 million non-media SKU limit on Amazon.fr. The High-Volume Listing fee for FR is €0.0004 per active SKU.

The fee will be calculated monthly and it will be shown in the your next month’s statement.
